The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade has informed kormany.hu that Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó has held talks with Foreign Minister of Egypt Sameh Hassan Shoukry, in order to prepare for Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s visit to Cairo, which is scheduled for May.
Mr. Szijjártó assured his Egyptian colleague that Hungary stands by Egypt in combating terrorism.
Mr. Szijjártó said that Hungary recognises Egypt’s recent achievements, and considers the stability of the country to be especially important for reducing the migration pressure which Europe is experiencing.
Earlier Mr. Szijjártó gave a speech at the UN General Assembly’s two-day debate, which started on Tuesday and for which the central topic is international security and the world organisation’s role in maintaining international peace.
