On Monday, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó held talks with China’s Deputy Director of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) Wang Xiaotao on the modernisation of the Budapest-Belgrade railway line.
The parties agreed that a legal solution will be developed on the basis of which the project will conform to European regulations.
This investment will significantly strengthen Hungary’s position in the competition between Central European countries for the route along which goods are transported towards Western Europe. These goods come from China to Greece by sea. As a result, Hungary will retain its leading position in competition along the route from China through Central Europe.
