Austrian company Marzek Etiketten+Packaging’s new flexible packaging material production plant was officially inaugurated in Békéscsaba on Thursday. “The people of Hungary have made a great effort to ensure that more and more foreign capital settles in Hungary”, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s Minister of State for Economic Diplomacy Levente Magyar said at the inauguration ceremony.

The new plant will operate under the name M-Flexilog Ltd, and the production unit has been realised immediately next to the Marzek Group’s existing plant, Marzek Kner Packaging Ltd.

The latest investment represents the close of the Marzek Group’s multi-year investment project, the total cost of which exceeded 11 million euros. The Hungarian Government categorised the project as an important investment and has provided 3 million euros in funding towards its realisation. The investment will be creating 120 new jobs in the upcoming period.

At the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Magyar highlighted the fact that the people of Hungary have made a great effort to ensure that more and more foreign capital settles in Hungary. He pointed out that while the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA) brokered only 6 investment agreements in 2010, in 2016 it helped secure 71 new investments values between 0.2 billion euros and 43.2 billion euros each. The number of workplaces created as a result increased from 1067 in 2010 to a current level of 17,647.
