In the spirit of Hungary’s Southward Opening strategy, Latin-America plays a significant role in Hungary’s foreign trade and foreign affairs strategies. According to Minister Szijjártó, the goal of the Hungarian Government is to benefit from the economic and social progress of Latin America.
The Hungarian Exim Bank has opened a credit line of USD 300 million for Columbia and of USD 20 million for Argentina to finance the cooperation of Hungarian enterprises in the area.
In order to promote the Hungarian export and to overcome trade barriers, Hungary urges the establishment of the EU-Colombia free trade agreement and to acceleration of EU-Mercosur (Southern Common Market) trade talks.
In order to strengthen the cooperation between the parties, in October, Hungary will host the Hungary-Latin America forum for the second time in Budapest, and our country will extend the available scholarship programmes for South American students as well, Mr. Szijjártó said.
