Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó met with Minister Delegate to the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mbarka Bouaida and Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari on the sidelines of the meeting of foreign ministers of the global coalition against the Islamic State terrorist organisation in Washington.
The Iraqi Foreign Minister will be making an official visit to Hungary during the autumn.
The two Ministers concluded an agreement according to which Iraqi army officers will be arriving in Szentendre, Hungary, from November, where they will receive bomb disposal training from the Hungarian Defence Force, while from September 70 Iraqi students will receive scholarships to attend Hungarian universities.
Morocco is supporting Hungary’s nomination for membership of the UN Human Rights Council. Mr. Szijjártó and Ms. Bouaida agreed on the launching of a direct air passenger route between the two countries and on the continuous increasing of Hungarian agriculture and food industry exports to Morocco.
300 Moroccan students have already applied for the one hundred scholarship places available at Hungarian universities.
