Minister of State for Security Policy and International Cooperation Dr. István Mikola attended the annual conference of the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) on 26-27 March, where he gave a speech entitled The Future Challenges of Mass Migration and its Impact on Europe at the ministerial panel discussion.
The goal of the annual AIPAC forum is to enable discussions between Europe and Israel on the main challenges facing the region. At the March 26 congress of the very popular event in the Verizon Center in Washington, United States Vice President Mike Spence also gave a speech in front of an audience of 18 thousand people.
One of the most important events of the conference, the ministerial panel discussion, was held at midday on March 27 and was moderated by AIPAC Director for International Affairs Stephen Schneider. In addition to Dr. Mikola, the members of the panel also included the Latvian Foreign Minister, the Greek Minister of Telecommunications and the Government Spokesperson of Cyprus.
During the panel discussion, Dr. Mikola gave a speech entitled The Future Challenges of Mass Migration and its Impact on Europe, in which he highlighted the importance of cooperation with Israel, which is part of the region, in the interests of handling the unprecedented challenges posed by the migration crisis. He also mentioned the rich political, economic and cultural cooperation between Hungary and Israel, and the present day cultural renaissance of the Jewish community in Hungary.
