“Having signed an aid agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Charitable Foundation for the Beregszász II. Rákóczi Ferenc College of Higher Education and the Transcarpathian Hungarian Teacher Training College, we have achieved a long-coveted feat, thereby taking yet another step towards the survival of the Hungarian community in Transcarpathia”, Deputy State Secretary for International Cooperation Ádám Zoltán Kovács said during the course of his visit to Transcarpathia on 11-12 June 2015.

The Deputy State Secretary paid a visit to the region on account of the developments implemented under the auspices of the Eastern Partnership Programme which has served as a means for the refurbishment with a view to energy efficiency and development of educational, cultural and health care institutions and the reinforcement of local communities since 2012.

Ádám Zoltán Kovács met with instructors participating in the scholarship programme of the Hungarian Language Faculty of Humanities and Sciences of the Ungvár National University in Ungvár. Sándor Spenik, Dean of the Faculty expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade for the assistance provided by the Hungarian Government.

The Deputy State Secretary also had a meeting with the heads of historical churches in Transcarpathia with whom he had talks about the aid agreements which are currently being prepared. Mr. Kovács said that this activity of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Transcarpathia is a valid contribution to the implementation of Hungary’s international development policy in harmony with its objectives concerning Hungarian communities beyond the borders.
