Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó received Peter Clarke, Vice President of International Gas, ExxonMobil International Ltd.
Mr. Szijjártó explained that the diversification of gas procurement sources is in Hungary’s interests, but that this is impossible in Central Europe without major infrastructure investments. In the mid-term, Hungary is counting on natural gas extracted from fields in the Black Sea appearing on the Eastern European gas market. Hungary’s gas pipeline network, the capacity of its gas storage facilities and its interconnectors mean Hungary is capable of being the region’s gas distribution centre.
