The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s Deputy State Secretary for European and American Relations, Kristóf Altusz held talks with Head of the Austrian Foreign Ministry’s Strategic and Policy Planning Unit Alexander Schallenberg in Vienna on 9 October 2017, in addition to which he also met with Ambassador Bernhard Wrabetz, the Chief Foreign Affairs Advisor to the Austrian Chancellor, the Austrian Chancellery’s chief security policy official and regional heads of department responsible for Hungarian-Austrian relations.
The main topics of discussion at the meetings were the Western Balkans, Ukraine’s new Education Act, which discriminates against minorities, and boosting bilateral economic relations. In addition, the close cooperation between the countries with relation to the migration crisis was also reviewed, and the Deputy State Secretary also informed his negotiating partners with regard to the migration-related points of the current Hungarian Presidency of the Visegrád Group (V4).
Also discussed were the upcoming Austrian parliamentary elections, which will take place this weekend.
