Deputy State Secretary Kristóf Altusz received his counterpart, the Latvian Foreign Ministry’s Deputy State Secretary for EU Affairs Inga Skujiņa on the 14th of October 2016 in Budapest.

During their meeting, in addition to current issues on the agenda of bilateral relations they reviewed the most important challenges concerning the future of the EU, including amongst others the expected consequences of Brexit, the migration situation and the perception of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. Negotiations also focussed on improving the instruments of regional cooperation and developing potential relations between the Visegrád Group and the Baltic States.

The Hungarian and Latvian Deputy State Secretaries agreed that a successful and competitive European Union can only be assured by a common institutional system based on strong, sovereign Member States.
