“The identification and repatriation of the victims of last week’s bus accident near Verona will probably take until next week”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said on M1 Hungarian television’s Wednesday morning current affairs program.
“The identification of the victims is proving to be extremely difficult because of the tissue damage caused by the fire, and as a result, despite the fact that precious reports had suggested that the procedure might be completed by Wednesday of Thursday, it will probably take another week, after which we will be able to bring the bodies home”, Mr. Szijjártó explained.
“We don’t yet know what caused the accident”, he added.
At today’s session, the General Assembly of Budapest agreed that the capital’s funeral service company, Budapest Funeral Institute Cls., will be covering the costs and expenses of the funerals of the victims of the Verona bus tragedy.
The body decided on the pledge by unanimous vote at the proposal of Mayor of Budapest István Tarlós.
At the beginning of the session, the General Assembly’s participants observed a minute’s silence in memory of the dead and injured.
