Minister of Defence Csaba Hende received the experts of the US Joint Special Operations University on a courtesy call. The Minister of Defence emphasized that the special operations forces (SOF) capability plays an important role in the Hungarian Defence Forces and is at once a highlighted field of American–Hungarian military-to-military relations.
At the meeting, Minister Hende expressed his gratitude to the American partners for their cooperation in the development of Hungarian SOF capability. Wade Y. Ishimoto and George H. McNair delivered lectures during the Special Operations Forces Integration Course, which was organized by the Hungarian Defence Forces Joint Force Command (HDF JFC) at Székesfehérvár between January 26 and 30.
The feedback received from the personnel shows that the knowledge shared by the trainers from the Joint Special Operations University (JSOU) greatly contributes to the effective development of capabilities.
During the discussions it was announced that the Ministry of Defence would like to continue the ongoing cooperation. A possible way to achieve this is to incorporate the opportunities provided by the American military university into the curriculum of military higher education. US Defense Attaché Col. Mark M. Karas was also present at the meeting.
Conventional military forces cannot be used effectively against the new types of challenges of our age and against the threats of international terrorism. That is why there is a need for developing and sustaining a special military capability which meets the specific requirements of asymmetric warfare.
