Minister of Defence Tibor Benkő presented Ambassador Iain Lindsay with the “For Defence” honorary title on Monday 7 September. The Defence Minister thanked the British diplomat for his many years of work at the residence of the United Kingdom’s Ambassador to Hungary, in Budapest.

Ambassador Iain Lindsay began his commission in Hungary on 30 March 2016. In recent years he has often caused pleasant moments for the people of Hungary with his various surprises, such as reading a poem or greeting the country’s citizens in Hungarian.

However, there were also much more important moments to the UK diplomat’s activities: The work of Ambassador Lindsay also further improved the excellent relations between Hungary and the United Kingdom within several other areas, including defence. However, as his commission draws to an end, it is now time to say goodbye.

In appreciation of the Ambassador’s efforts, Hungary’s Minister of Defence Tibor Benkő presented the outgoing Ambassador with the “For Defence” honorary title. “This title is in appreciation and acknowledgement of the excellent cooperation and joint efforts that Iain Lindsay has enabled between the United Kingdom and Hungary”, the Minister of Defence added.
