Contrary to the assertions of a Canadian paper “The Ottawa Citizen”, Hungary has always fulfilled its obligations to foot the bill for training its pilots, in line with the current training requirements. The Ministry of Defence has not asked the Canadian Department of National Defence (DND) to cover the training cost of Hungarian pilots.
The Hungarian Defence Forces aim at providing the highest possible level of training for their pilots, and that is why they send students to join pilot training in the excellent NATO Flying Training in Canada (NFTC) program, which offers training by NATO standards. Hungary also supplies its own instructors in order to contribute to the successful operation of the program.
