Between 22 February and 3 March, altogether more than 750 Hungarian and American troops are participating in a joint tactical-level exercise, which is combined with airdrop operations and live firing.
The objective of the Warlord Rock 2015 exercise is to allow fighting, combat support (CS) and combat service support (CSS) forces to prepare in allied cooperation for planning, organizing and conducting airdrop operations. The participants of the exercise are nominated personnel from the US Army173rd Airborne Brigade, the 24th “Bornemissza Gergely” Reconnaissance Battalion and the 62nd infantry battalion of the Hungarian Defence Forces (HDF) 5th “Bocskai István” Infantry Brigade, the HDF 25/88 Airmobile Battalion and the HDF 34th “Bercsényi László” Special Operations Forces Battalion. The missions are being performed under Hungarian control at four designated locations, on Aviano Air Base, Italy, Pápa Air Base, Hungary and in the military training area of Várpalota.
On 26February, Lt.-Gen. Ben Hodges, Commanding General, Headquarters, United States Army Europe (USAREUR) and Csaba Hende, Minister of Defence of Hungary will jointly inspect one phase of the joint exercise, which is being conducted by NATO command doctrines.
