“NATO’s crisis management exercise in 2015 (CMX 15) focuses on dealing with refugee issues and a related outbreak of an epidemic as well as on countering a cyber-attack” Minister of State for Public Administration of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) István Dankó said at the press conference of the exercise.
Since 1992, NATO has held its crisis management exercise every year, which is conducted in all member states including Hungary. Hungary is participating with 200 officials representing all ministries and other state institutions that are involved in handling the problem that arises in NATO’s fictitious scenario, the MoD Minister of State said.
“From Hungary’s perspective, the objective of the CMX 15 is that the country can prove its readiness to actively and effectively participate in the decision-making process of the Alliance. Furthermore, the exercise provides an opportunity to test the Hungarian national crisis management system to make sure that all involved governmental institutions can properly react in the event of a real-world crisis”, István Dankó emphasized.
Minister of State for Public Administration of the Ministry of the Interior László Felkai pointed out that the exercise is based on a comprehensive approach, which means that the participants are testing the effectiveness of cooperation between law enforcement/national defence organizations and the civil society.
