Construction of a sample section of the border security fence started on the outskirts of Mórahalom on Monday, 13 July.
On 13 July, 2015 at 8:00 a. m. the Hungarian Defence Forces – with police presence – started preparatory works for building a temporary border security fence in a designated border area on the outskirts of Mórahalom. The task currently involves altogether 43 personnel from the HDF 5th “István Bocskai” Infantry Brigade, the HDF 37th “Ferenc Rákóczi II” Engineer Regiment and the HDF 86th Szolnok Helicopter Base.
The soldiers transported the technical equipment by eight vehicles from the Hódmezővásárhely barracks to the construction site. After a site survey, they are using a tracked bulldozer and a universal earthmover to prepare the terrain – with tree-felling, undergrowth clearing, earthwork and road construction – before they start building the temporary border security fence. In the present phase of the works, competent bodies of the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Defence are jointly building a 150-meter-long sample section of the fence.
