“Together, the Visegrád Group can represent our common interests more effectively and can play a proactive role within the European Union”, Deputy Minister of Agriculture István Nagy said during a meeting with Chairman of the Czech Agricultural Committee Jaroslav Faltýnek.
“We must think in terms of European Union funding that represents long-term market regulation”, Mr. Nagy said, adding that Hungary’s goal is for EU funding to achieve a qualitative renewal of agriculture and improve the population retention capacities of rural areas.
Mr. Faltýnek indicated that the Czech Republic is counting on Hungary to help achieve the highest possible levels of EU funding for the animal husbandry sector. He also drew attention to the fact that joint action is also required with regard to handling the market crisis caused by the Russian embargo. Topics of the meeting included reducing the negative effects of cormorants on fisheries and the current state of the milk sector.
