“The People’s Republic of China has become Hungary’s 10th most important trade partner in recent years. Hungarian agricultural exports to China exceeded 67 million euros in 2016”, the Ministry of Agriculture’s Minister of State for Agricultural Economy György Czerván said at the official opening of the Hungarian stand of the SIAL international food industry expo held in Shanghai on 17-19 May.
The Minister of State stressed that among the countries of Central Europe, Hungary is currently in possession of the most Chinese food important licences, with continuous exports of Hungarian pork, goose meat, beef, rabbit meat and wheat.
Hungary’s Consulate General in Shanghai organised a business forum for Hungarian companies operating in China to coincide with the expo. The event created an outstanding opportunity for representatives of Hungarian enterprises to forge further relations with the Chinese partners attending the forum.
In his speech at a wine dinner given for important members of the Chinese business community, Minister of State for Public Administration Andrea Gulyás highlighted the fact that the Hungarians are rightly proud of their Hungaricums, many of which are the achievements of Hungarian agriculture and animal husbandry, adding that Hungarian pálinka, Tokay and the wines of other Hungarian wine regions, goose liver and the country’s excellent mineral waters are known throughout the world.
The Hungarian enterprises participating in the SIAL China food industry expo, which was held for the 18th time this year, have been regularly showcasing their outstanding quality Hungarian products for years. During the expo, the Ministry of Agriculture delegation held several meetings with high-level representatives of China’s agriculture ministry and other officials.
