Minister István Nagy received a delegation from the National People’s Congress of China’s Agricultural and Rural Development Committee at the Ministry of Agriculture. During the meeting, the parties discussed current issues relating to agricultural relations between Hungary and China.
Mr. Nagy indicated that the Ministry of Agriculture will also be participating at the Chinese International Import Expo in Shanghai in early November.
The Minister stressed that the excellent relations it has developed with China are extremely important to Hungary, as this represents another opportunity for Hungary to be one of the logistic hubs for the huge volume of trade between the region and the European Union.
The parties discussed Hungarian agricultural export opportunities to China, in addition to which they reviewed the licencing procedures required to enable the import of Hungarian products.
China is Hungary’s 10th most important trade partner. Agriculture and the food industry provide an important part of Hungarian-Chinese foreign trade. From among the countries of Central Europe, Hungary has Chinese import licences with relation to the largest number of product groups (pork, goose meat, duck meat, beef, rabbit, live horses, milk and wheat), thanks to the excellent cooperation between our relative authorities.
