“During the past five years Hungary has increased its agricultural exports to China by a factor of ten, and our goal is to assure that other products are also given a chance to appear on the market”, Minister of Agriculture Sándor Fazekas stressed following a meeting with the head of China’s General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ), Zhi Shuping.
At the bilateral talks, which were held within the framework of the China-CEEC 16+1 Summit currently being held in Budapest, the parties discusses future trade relations between the two countries. Mr. Zhi reported on the fact that China is more than satisfied with Hungarian products and sees an opportunity to expand the range of import goods. He officially presented Mr. Fazekas with the form required to begin the permit process for importing cherries, and promised to accelerate the assessment process with relation to bird flu.
The Hungarian Agriculture Minister indicated to his Chinese negotiating partner that Hungary is also ready to cooperate with China within the fields of e-commerce and logistics, and procurement and distribution chains. Mr. Fazekas and Mr. Zhi signed the document that will allow the export of Hungarian maize, which will provide the foundations for the shipping of high quality Hungarian corn to China.
