Minister of Agriculture Sándor Fazekas and Vice Governor of the People’s Republic of China’s Henan Province Wang Tie held talks in Budapest on developing scientific cooperation, the transposition of agricultural practices, and Hungary’s settlement development results.

Mr. Fazekas, who has already held talks with the official from one of China’s most highly populated provinces on several occasions, called Hungarian-Chinese relations promising with relation to several areas of agriculture. Animal husbandry, milk production and food industry experts from Henan Province, which has a population of some 100 million, arrived in Hungary to discuss the practical realisation of improving relations between the two countries. The official delegation and associated businesspeople visited a milk processing plant and a facility that produces frozen products, after which they visited the National Agricultural Research and Innovation Centre in Gödöllő, where they held talks on expanding cooperation with the field of research & development. Following the meeting, Mr. Fazekas told reporters: “Hungary is playing the role of bridgehead in Chinese-European cooperation. Thanks to Hungarian foreign policy’s ‘Eastern Opening’ strategy, Hungarian-Chinese diplomatic relations, including agricultural diplomatic relations, are developing promisingly. This in turn is creating more wide-ranging links between the People’s Republic of China and Hungary in the form of extremely diverse scientific, business and institutional cooperation.
