“Supporting family farms and small-scale producers is of priority importance to Hungary, as are stopping rural emigration, increasing the standard of living in rural areas and improving the attractiveness of agriculture”, Minister of Agriculture István Nagy declared at a meeting in Budapest with the Assistant Director General of the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).

Mr. Nagy stressed that the Ministry of Agriculture is committed to the continued broadest possible promotion of self-sufficiency, garden horticulture and small animal husbandry.

The Minister highlighted the fact that Hungary is a committed partner in the realisation of FAO goals, and as he explained, this is also corroborated by the many jointly organised events. Hungary is ready to continue its already successful cooperation with the FAO, and primarily with its offices in Budapest, in the interests of achieving our common goals. The Ministry of Agriculture would like to continue operating the scholarship programme, project financing, and the young expert programme launched at the organisation’s Budapest regional office, Minister of Agriculture István Nagy said at the meeting.
