Technological innovation was the topic of the fourth China-Central and Eastern European conference held in Belgrade on 8-9 October.
Attendees of the event had the opportunity to acquaint themselves with the latest Chinese developments, the 5G network, the Chinese concept of high-speed trains and robot technology.
Hungary was represented by Minister for Innovation and Technology László Palkovics who highlighted that the most important point of the conference is how European countries are able to relate to Chinese technology and how they can use its advantages for their own benefit.
At the conference, one of the issues at the centre of attention was the Budapest-Belgrade railway line which will be the fastest route from South-East Europe to the interior of the continent. Hungary can profit from its geographical location as the sea branch of the Chinese Silk Road terminates at the ports of Greece. In the coming decades, the race will be on for forwarding goods to the interior of the continent via the fastest route.
The fact that a Chinese company is building a railway line on the continent together with European companies is an innovative solution in itself, the Minister stressed.
Huawei employing almost two thousand people in Hungary can become an example of successful Chinese-Hungarian cooperation. In addition to its existing production and logistics plant, Huawei is planning to create a European development centre in Hungary.
