The Government expects the EP election to be very fiercely fought, and this may be a historic crossroads for Europe for a number of reasons, Minister of State for International Communication and Relations Zoltán Kovács said on TV channel M1 on Thursday.

Zoltán Kovács, who was interviewed about the press conference held earlier today by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, said that the main objective was to achieve majority in those EU bodies where the current pro-migration majority is working to have initiatives approved which aim to legalize and accelerate migration.

He added that majority can be achieved not only through the European People's Party but possibly also through the participation of other parties, along with the EP also in the European Commission, which will then be able to do away with the pro-migration policy.

Those who call themselves liberal or progressive are pro-migration and, as Zoltán Kovács noted, the “anti-Semitic” Jobbik party also belongs to this category. Christian Democrats, the centre-right and several formations further on their right are those who oppose this concept, he pointed out.

He reiterated that for the very first time there is going to be a common topic that unites nation states as until recently EP elections used to typically reflect a country’s domestic political situation.
