The reason why an outdoor event with the Prime Minister’s attendance was not organised for 23 October was that it was uncertain until the last minute whether an extraordinary European Council meeting was going to be necessary due to Brexit.
Minister of State for International Communication and Relations Zoltán Kovács said this situation is not unprecedented; it has happened in the past few years.
The Minister of State, who is also head of the operational corps responsible for the safe implementation of the celebratory events, highlighted that the family programmes organised to mark the 63rd anniversary of the 1956 revolution and freedom fight were being held with high attendance.
Until 3.00 p.m. the Parliament Building was visited by almost three thousand people. The House of Terror Museum – whose mobile application introducing the most important Budapest venues and events of the 1956 revolution has been available since Wednesday – was also visited by almost three thousand people until 3.00 p.m., Mr Kovács said.
