We suggest that Mayor of Budapest Gergely Karácsony concentrate all his energies on elderly care homes operated by the metropolitan municipality, the Minister of State for International Communication and Relations stated on his Facebook account on Monday.
In his post, Zoltán Kovács added that a fall in the number of fatalities occurring in these care homes was a condition of restarting life in Budapest.
The Minister of State highlighted repeatedly that the coronavirus epidemic was spreading most in elderly care homes operated by the metropolitan municipality. The reason for this is, he wrote, that the Mayor of Budapest started taking action too late, and failed to prepare elderly care homes in the capital for the epidemic.
Mr Kovács also shared a diagram demonstrating that throughout the country one hundred persons have died of coronavirus infection in elderly care homes. The number of Budapest victims stands at 74; 65 of them lived in elderly care homes operated by the metropolitan municipality. In the Pesti út elderly care home alone 42 persons have died of coronavirus infection.
