According to Government Spokesperson Zoltán Kovács it is safer to be Jewish in Central Europe than anywhere else in Europe, and “this is related to the new type of anti-Semitism caused by mass migration”.
On Thursday on the public service television news channel M1 Mr Kovács was interviewed in connection with the fact that Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during the day in Jerusalem.
The government spokesperson stressed that the government’s commitment to the Jewish community and the Jewish community’s safety is unquestionable; they provide every assistance with the lives of Hungarian Jews and Jewish Hungarians living here. The Jewish community has become an integral part of the Hungarian nation, he added.
He observed that while the Central and Eastern European region has been “singled out” in the context of anti-Semitism in Western Europe in the past few decades, facts show that the number and nature of anti-Semitic incidents in Western Europe by far exceed anything that one may observe in Hungary or Central Europe.
Regarding the infringement procedure instituted by the European Union due to the “Stop Soros” legislative package, Mr Kovács said they are not surprised, they expected this to happen. Pro-immigration opinions are clashing with the latest measures which seek to eliminate the loopholes which “so-called non-governmental organisations have abused so far”.
