According to the Government Spokesperson, while it is being denied, the implementation of the Soros plan is making headway in the institutions of the European Union.
Zoltán Kovács said at a press conference held on Wednesday in Budapest that the Soros plan is clearly reflected in the proposals and decisions of the EU’s institutions in a number of elements and forms.
This is hardly a surprise, he continued, as György Soros’s Open Society Foundations and the billionaire’s organisations are represented in Brussels by hundreds of people, and they are making every effort to realise these ideas to the fullest possible extent.
He added: there was a week when György Soros himself paid a visit to Brussels where he met with the President of the European Commission and several European Commissioners.
Mr Kovács laid down: they find the ideas outlined by György Soros extremely dangerous as they are contrary to the EU’s decision-making mechanism and jeopardise Europe’s future.
He argued: György Soros wants to reinforce Europe with immigration. Hungary, however, takes the view that migration is a major threat, and Europe should instead rely on its internal resources.
The Government Spokesperson also detected elements of the Soros plan in the distribution mechanism of the asylum system.
He said: György Soros is of the opinion that the influx of migrants into Europe should be managed, rather than stopped, and he proposes a permanent distribution mechanism in his plan. The border closure and the protection of the national borders and the EU’s borders constitute the greatest obstacles to György Soros’s plan, and he is therefore opposed to the erection of fences, he said.
He remarked: Frans Timmerman, First Vice-President of the European Commission and others, too, have stated on a number of occasions that the EU is opposed to fences as a matter of principle.
Mr Kovács highlighted: Hungary takes the view that the national borders and the borders of the EU must be protected first of all. At this point in time, the fence is the most effective means of stopping the flow of illegal migrants, he added.
According to the Government Spokesperson, György Soros’s ideas include the setting up of a common asylum agency. Hungary rejects this idea, and proposes the reinforcement of the guarding of the borders instead. He said that the proposed asylum agency would effectively organise migration.
As part of the Soros plan, he highlighted that the Member States would be required to cover the costs of migration and the integration of immigrants. This could take place whether through the reduction of EU grants, or the penalisation of Member States, he explained.
He further told the press that the postal delivery of the national consultation questionnaires is already under way, and the questionnaires will be delivered also in the provinces by the beginning of next month.
The Government Spokesperson was asked whether the problem had been resolved that the consultation questionnaires can be completed online more than once with the entry of false data. Mr Kovács said that the system is fundamentally based on fair conduct and the assumption that people will not create false e-mail addresses for this reason alone.
He indicated that the number of questionnaires completed online is usually „a fraction” of those returned by mail. The system has been developed in conformity with the data protection regulations in force, he added.
He was further queried about the fact that the Government had reallocated 6 billion 625 million forints from the country protection fund to tasks related to government communication and consultation. Mr Kovács said: this sum does not relate to the present consultation. The purpose of the country protection fund is to serve as a reserve for the event of unforeseeable problems, he pointed out. He added: towards the end of the year, they are gradually releasing the funds of the country protection fund, subject to the figures of the budget.
A question was also asked about the recently released feasibility study of the Felcsút narrow-gauge railway line. The Government Spokesperson said: the Felcsút narrow-gauge railway line is an element of a programme involving the refurbishment of multiple narrow-gauge railway lines, and consequently, the allocations must be scrutinised as a whole. If the EU found the utilisation of funds in order, he continued, as no feedback has been received to the effect that any irregularity was uncovered, the project must conform to the original objective.
Mr Kovács was further asked about the fact that, according to press reports, due to the closing of the Fót children’s centre, the Government would put unaccompanied minor refugees or asylum-seekers up at the Aszód juvenile correctional facility. Mr Kovács said: there are no plans whatsoever to put anyone up in any kind of correctional facility. The same as before, these minors will be transferred to children’s homes.
