The “Stop Soros” legislative package and the related constitutional amendment may guarantee that the decision-making competence and authority of the Hungarian Parliament cannot be avoided in any way on the issue of migration, the government spokesperson said on Kossuth Radio’s programme 180 minutes on Wednesday.
Zoltán Kovács said that the prohibition of immigration and resettlement had received clear and unequivocal support in the 2016 referendum.
The government is now delivering on its promise made at the time as with this amendment new elements will be added to the Fundamental Law which will strengthen “the core of constitutionality and our identity”, and will guarantee that no one else should have the authority to decide whom we live together with in our country, he stated.
Regarding next year’s budget, the government spokesperson said that during the process of planning they always cut their coat according to their cloth.
In the past few years every social group has been able to take a step forward, and this achievement is thanks to the performance of the Hungarian people, Mr Kovács added.
