On Thursday Government Spokesperson Zoltán Kovács told public television channel M1 that Hungarian diplomacy will have a lot to do in order to make Brussels understand that mandatory resettlement quotas are not a solution.

Mr. Kovács said that the EU does not want to treat the root causes of migration with the quotas, as they are merely reacting to its consequences.

The Government Spokesperson added that in the Hungarian referendum on the quotas the future of Europe will also be at stake, and it will also show to what extent the Government can represent its position against mandatory resettlement.
