The government is planning the necessary measures aimed at containing the virus in light of every element of the challenges present, the Minister of State for International Communication and Relations said in a video message posted on Friday.
In a video message posted on the government’s social media account, Zoltán Kovács said – on the occasion that three weeks have gone by since Parliament adopted the law on the fight against the coronavirus – that the law provides the framework which can render action against the spread of the virus effective.
The passage of the law would have provided an opportunity also for the opposition to take part in the effort, but they refused it and opted for a different path, the Minister of State added.
He observed that the past three weeks have also proved that, instead of cooperation, “they are effectively attacking and trying to frustrate each and every one of our steps, plans and measures”.
Mr Kovács highlighted that not only opposition parties are doing this, but also “the press that claims to be affiliated with the opposition”. “This is what we are compelled to fight against day in, day out; instead of cooperation and unity, we are observing continuous criticisms of and ongoing attempts to frustrate the work of the government and the decisions adopted and measures planned by the Operational Group,” he added.
Regardless of this, out duty remains to systematically plan our measures aimed at the containment of the virus, step by step, taking every element of the challenges present into consideration, he said. He mentioned as examples the measures related to restrictions on movement, the authority given to mayors for the weekend and bank holidays in connection with the restrictions on movement, and the latest rules relating to final examinations.
The Minister of State asked people to keep track of the government’s measures and to observe the requests and regulations which the government adopts based on the Operational Group’s recommendations. They should all be a part of the effort which is aimed at further slowing down the spread of the virus, Mr Kovács said appealing to members of the public.
