All facilities, capabilities and knowledge are available for the organisation on Tuesday in Budapest of safe celebrations – marking the establishment of the state – to everyone’s satisfaction.
Minister of State for International Communication and Relations Zoltán Kovács said the operational corps will be in session all day on Tuesday. The operational corps will be working with real-time data, with the latest information. Should the need emerge for any intervention, they will take action with immediate effect, he stressed.
He also said that the series of state celebrations will begin with the hoisting of the national flag at Kossuth tér, following which Defence Minister Tibor Benkő will deliver a welcome address. This will be followed by a celebratory speech by President of the Republic János Áder.
On 20 August more than 130 officer candidates will be inaugurated. In continuation, the Hungarian Defence Forces will conduct a 50-minute-long air and water display where visitors will also be able to see equipment which testifies to the direction of the ongoing military reform.
A celebratory Holy Mass and the Holy Right Hand procession will form an integral part of the state commemorations this year as well, Mr Kovács said.
He added that the fireworks display will start at nine o’clock in the evening, and will last for approximately thirty minutes. According to the information at our disposal at this point in time, nothing will jeopardise the implementation of the fireworks display, he said.
The Minister of State further highlighted that programmes related to 20 August had been ongoing in the capital for a day and a half, and had been attended by tens of thousands of people so far, including the event entitled Street of Hungarian Flavours held in Buda Castle.
