The Minister of State for Government Communication believes that the Stop Soros legislative package can only be tightened; making its provisions less stringent is out of the question.

Bence Tuzson said on the public service television news channel M1 on Friday that the social consultation regarding the proposed legislation is currently under way, and the government would like members of the public in the largest possible numbers to state their views because this would help improve the eventual legislative package.

He said that they will summarise the different opinions and will present a summary proposal to the government next week. They wish to submit the bill to Parliament before the start of its spring session, he added.

The Minister of State was also asked about a statement made by the Belgian Prime Minister to the effect that if the Council comprised of the heads of government of EU Member States fails to reach a consensus by the end of June, they will adopt the planned reforms with a qualified majority vote, without the Visegrád countries. Mr Tuzson is of the opinion that this is “an outrageous ultimatum”.

He said that what the Belgian Prime Minister is talking about is a “trick”, the essence of which lies in avoiding the main decision-making body, and facilitating migration with a decision adopted in the council of home ministers with a simple majority by creating a mandatory resettlement system without an upper limit.
