The new government can start its activities in a stable economic situation, the Parliamentary State Secretary of the Cabinet Office of the Prime Minister told the public service media on Friday.
Csaba Dömötör stressed that in the past few years the country had managed to regain its economic independence, and this has a great many positive consequences, including the facts that hundreds of thousands of new jobs have been created, the economy is growing at a rate of around 4 per cent, wages are on the increase, we have managed to protect pensions and family benefits are also increasing.
From among the latest figures, he specifically mentioned that the construction industry had increased by 26 per cent compared with last year. This also indicates the strengthening of the economy, he explained, and the strengthening of the economy means that more and more people can perceive and appreciate these positive effects in their own lives.
In this sense, the current situation is the very opposite of that of 2010 when the socialists left behind a country in debt to its neck, a country that was almost deprived of a future, Mr Dömötör said.
According to the Parliamentary State Secretary, the new governmental structure and division of labour, too, will have to be adjusted to the final result of the elections and its principal message: strengthening security and defending the country’s independence are the key priorities.
The latter equally applies to economic issues because “if we also manage to keep decisions concerning the economy and our livelihoods under our own control, we may well be standing on the verge of a great upward era”, the politician stated.
