The first four questions of the national consultation to start shortly are about further steps in the fight against the coronavirus epidemic, the Parliamentary State Secretary at the Cabinet Office of the Prime Minister stated in a video message posted on the Facebook account of the Government of Hungary on Wednesday.
Csaba Dömötör said they would like to ask the Hungarian people which containment measures they support for the event of another possible wave of the epidemic. This question is important because experts agree that those measures prove to be effective in general which enjoy wider social support.
In the context of the first question he added that – in contrast to the usual practice – respondents can choose several of the nine answers, from the wearing of face masks to restrictions on movement.
The second question is about whether disease control preparedness should be maintained or not as long as the threat of a second peak exists. The third question concerns the protection of elderly care homes as every fourth victim of the epidemic lives in an elderly care home. In question four, members of the public can state what Hungary should do to reduce its reliance on supplies from abroad, whether Hungary’s production capacities should be reinforced, the State Secretary highlighted.
Mr Dömötör also said the questionnaire features 13 questions; in the coming days, they will introduce further questions.
