Hungary does not accept any quotas relating to the distribution of migrants, and is ready to cooperate with Italy in the fight against people smuggling, border protection and the transportation of illegal immigrants back to their home countries, Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister György Bakondi said on the public service television news channel M1 on Friday evening.
In the context of the above, Mr Bakondi said that on Wednesday he had paid an official visit to Rome where he had attended and addressed a conference on the topic organised by Lega Nord.
He said “Hungary is not prepared to breach the mandate granted by the Hungarian people based on any instruction, whether from Brussels or any other power centre, and to take any action against the will of the Hungarian people. We do not accept quotas of any kind.”
Mr Bakondi also highlighted that what had happened in Italy was the best example of what one could expect when left-wing parties came to power. The moment the Left came to power, they opened the migration corridor and re-opened ports. In response, a multitude of boats transporting migrants have appeared, he said.
