The Hungarian Helsinki Committee active on the issue of the “prison business” is already manoeuvring in order to avoid business losses, Spokesperson for the Government Communication Centre Örs Farkas said commenting on a post by the organisation on Facebook.
Mr Farkas shared the Hungarian Helsinki Committee’s post, highlighting that they have prepared a document about the changes in the procedure related to the compensation of prisoners. They point out that the order of payments has changed, has become more complicated; however, the main rules have remained the same. A person who is detained in poor circumstances can file an action for damages according to the old rules also today, they wrote.
Mr Farkas pointed out in his reaction that while the government is preparing to ask the Hungarian people for their opinion in connection with the elimination of the prison business, the Hungarian Helsinki Committee which is actively involved in the matter is already manoevruing in order to avoid business losses.
