The Government considers the referendum as never having been a more actual issue than it is today, and accordingly it will be intensively continuing its information campaign on the referendum.
Minister heading the Cabinet Office of the Prime Minister Antal Rogán told reporters that in the current phase of the campaign the Government would like to draw attention to the disadvantages and consequences of Brussels’ immigration policy. “The Government would like everyone in Hungary to know that as a result of Brussels immigration policy over 1.5 million illegal immigrants have arrived in Europe during the past year alone. In addition, we would like everyone to know that there are 1 million people in refugee camps in Lebanon and 3 million people in Turkey alone who would like to get to Europe”, the Minister said, explaining the main message of the campaign.
“We would also like to make it absolutely clear that there is a relationship between terrorism and illegal immigration, because most of the perpetrators of the Paris attack were immigrants, and if we include the terrorist attack in Istanbul then over 300 people have died as a result of acts of terrorism in Europe during the past year”, he added. “It is also obvious”, he continued, “that this has gone hand in hand with an increase in crime, because there has been a marked increase in violent attacks against women in Europe since the beginning of the immigration crisis”.
According to Mr. Rogán, these are questions of such importance that everyone should be aware of them, but the Government is willing to debate these statements.
“The Government has currently made available a budget from which it can finance several campaigns until 31 July, after which a new budget will be made available from 1 August, the details of which will be made available on the government website”, he told the press.
